Salary Negotiations

First of all I will say do not include your salary requirements on your CV!
Because if the job advertised is offering R15 000.00 and your CV says your expected salary is R10 000.00 then the company will probably only offer your R10 000.00!

Be clear about your salary expectations at interviews!
Without being unrealistic! Be upfront about your salary expectations and requirements. I have seen the situation where people agree to a salary at the interview then when they are offered the job they demand thousands more! This is really frustrating, wasting both your time, the company's time and the agencies!
This does nothing but put the client (and the agency) completely off, and it is very possible that they will tell you to go "jump".

Always be upfront about your salary requirements, and yes you can negotiate with the company, but preferably during the interview.
Please don't be unrealistic when it comes to your salary, because this will decrease your chances of employment drastically.
For example: If you say you want R10 000.00 but the only experience you have is two years as a receptionist! Companies will laugh at you!

Work according to the market, look at adverts and see what people with your experience and qualifications are earning.

And remember if you are unemployed for a lengthy time and a company offers you R5000.00, it is R5000.00 more than you were earning before! Take the job but keep your eye out for something better.
