Make your CV stand out from the rest!

It is so frustrating when you send your CV out and you hear nothing! You don't get any indication as to whether or not you have been rejected or accepted for short listing.

Don't take this personally, most agencies are so busy that they simply don't have the time to get back to each and every candidate. On average they receive about 40+ CV's per advert placed! Now imagine having to contact each candidate, there is just not enough time in the day.

But what you could do to increase your chances of getting contacted for an interview is by making your CV stand out from the rest. On average a recruiter spends about 30 seconds reviewing a CV, You need to grab their attention in those 30 seconds!

Some ways to make your CV stand out:
1) Give it a professional layout and stick to it
People just put all the information all over the place, this is so hard to read. Stick to a simple professional layout, which makes the information easy to read.

2) Avoid writing essays, keep everything in simple, point form.

3) Give all the information.
Some people put as little on their CV as possible hoping that they will be contacted for an interview, this is not the way to do it! Your CV represents you in your absence, it is the employers first impression of you.

4) Spelling! This is so important. When you make small spelling mistakes this reflects badly on you, if you cannot pay attention to one of the most important documents in your life, how can you pay attention to your work?

5) NEVER lie on your CV, there is nothing worse than a lie on your CV! And a skilled person will pick it up straight away!
